Member, Mediators + More

STEVE GILBERT is an attorney with a deep understanding of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters, including litigation and transactions. He has worked as an intellectual property attorney in many business sectors, including agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, transportation, information, finance, real estate, professional services, waste management and remediation, education services, health care, arts & entertainment, and food service, and he’s applied Alternative Dispute Resolution techniques to many disagreements.

Before turning his attention solely to Alternative Dispute Resolution, Gilbert was a partner for many years at Bryan Cave LLP and a co-leader of the firm’s intellectual property group. He has more than 35 years of experience in all aspects of intellectual property law and has mediated two-party and multi-party disputes in which the principal issues concerned intellectual property and related business matters.

Gilbert is a CEDR Accredited Mediator and serves on the Mediation panel and the Commercial, Patent, Large Complex Case, and International (ICDR) arbitration panels of the American Arbitration Association, the Mediation panel and the Biotech, Trademark, Technology, and New York City arbitration panels of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR), and the Mediation and Arbitration panels of the World Intellectual Property Organization, among others. He’s arbitrated a wide range of disputes concerning matters involving, for example, foreign currency trading, genetics, software development, and luxury products trademark licensing, often as sole arbitrator or panel chair. He has presented continuing legal education courses on Alternative Dispute Resolution and intellectual property and lectured as part of graduate school marketing courses.

Prior to his legal career, Gilbert was a computer programmer, chemical process engineer, and consulting engineer.
